opensourcepicOpen-source softwares are not just great. They are awesome and are as good as their paid counterparts and it is possible to turn your computer to one that runs open-source softwares only. In the previous posts, we looked at 4 free open-source office suites apps.

In this post and subsequent posts, we will look  at 12 more free open-source softwares which serves a variety of functions such as image editing, instant messaging as well as video playing.

Image Editing

Gimp: Free and the best app ever to be a Photoshop replacement

Inkscape: Awesome open-source vector graphic editor

Scribus: Desktop Publishing app with rich features

Seashore: Similar to Gimp but looks more mac-like and does not require X11 to run.
