Google Wave Makes A Tsunami But We Have Yet To See It

with one comment

google waveAll this talk about Google Wave on the web, more than enough to dim the upcoming Bing is making us and maybe you ask the question: what in the world is Google Wave?? We want to know for sure too but truth is — we don’t quite know for sure. All Google has there are some feature pages and a sneak video (a long 1 hour 20 minutes video — you might need some popcorn ;)), so we won’t know if Google wave is good or bad for now. And if you are the type who don’t mind waiting, sign up on their waiting list for Google Wave while will be avaliable later this year or if you want to know more, Mashable managed to get a chance to try it out and we are dying for our chance too. With all that hype about Google Wave, let’s just hope that can last us through the year for the official launch of Google Wave. (about 6 more months to go)

Is Facebook Going Slow: We Don’t Know For Sure

leave a comment »

facebookMashable has reported that Facebook is slow and unresponsive these few days but we don’t know for sure — Facebook is working pretty fine here and we are not seeing a lot of complaints here so we are thinking it is a regional issue in the US and Europe. Maybe there are too much Facebook users but too little bandwidth or it is happening on some time-slots on a given day — We just dob’t know for sure so let’s not jump on the bandwagon. But whatever it is, let’s just hope Facebook won’t have a downtime anytime soon.

Bing Goes Live: Does It Match Up To Google?

with 10 comments

bingIn case you did not know, Bing is the new updated search engine by Mircosoft in an attempt to match up to Google’s search engine and has been buzzing around the blogosphere and the twittersphere for quite some time now. Just earlier today, Bing was launched and we had the pleasure to give it a quick test run to see how does it measures up to Google. Here are our findings so far:

For the first search comparison, we tried “social media” and here are some interesting findings. Both show Wikipedia as the top result, which is supposedly the most relevant site for these terms. But compared to Google, Bing does not show other sources like videos and news results, which might be more useful. We are expecting that to change in the future hopefully.

And now for some simple maths — what is 2+1? Bing and Google apparently know simple maths so check on this feature.

And lastly, we tried out the generic term “blogs”, and we can see a bit more difference. Now Google show some ads and Google Blog Search is now the first result (bias?) On the other hand. Bing shows some related searches like Blog MSN and Create MSN Blog, which are really just weird suggestions on their part. And on the whole, Bing shows little or no ads — they may show be up somewhere a bit later when Bing gets out to the general web. And finally our verdict: Bing is still not a good match against Google but it has walked out of the shadow of its former Live.com identity and we are sure Bing will be improving over time so watch out for its name for years to come!! Be sure to try out Bing and let us know what you think!!

Twitter FAIL: Another Day, Another Twitter Glitch

leave a comment »

Twitter has not had a smooth journey recently, with its recent downtimes and @replies controversy, but now there is yet another Twitter glitch. If you try to tweet from other Twitter client, it will not show up as “from *which twitter client” but nows only shows “from web”. It is not a big deal as it seems but it just shows that Twitter still has a lot of space for improvement.
