Facebook Launches Vanity URLS For All Users

with 5 comments

facebookEver wanted to have your own Facebook profile URL like facebook.com/username similar to Twitter? Now you can — once Facebook’s vanity URL feature goes live on 12:01 a.m. EDT on Saturday, June 13. Here is how it works: on this paricular date, you’ll be able to choose a username on a first-come, first-serve basis for your profile and the Facebook Pages that you administer by visiting www.facebook.com/username/ Here is what Facebook says about for choosing your own profile’s vanity URL:

Facebook usernames will be available in basic text forms, and you can only choose a single username for your profile and for each of the Pages that you administer. Your username must be at least five characters in length and only include alphanumeric characters (A-Z, 0-9), or a period or full stop (“.”)

Facebook has been experimenting with this new feature for quite a while for some profiles like Mashable and having this feature adds a great sense of identity to your Facebook profile and much more like a homepage like Twitter. This is gonna be a first-come-first-serve basis so note this date on your calender, Plus, note that once your username has been selected, you won’t be able to change or transfer it.

  1. Thanks for the info!

I got my name as the username.

You don’t need 1,000 Fans to get your own username.

Your Facebook account must be registered before June 9 as the only criteria.
